Where did summer go? Not my words, but I hear them a lot and feel a certain kinship. The blog definitely suffered. But i'm still here, still doing my thing.
RA IV is written (120k words at the moment) and about 30% edited. I wrote the first draft in a haze of travel soccer, federal studies, and soul-sucking committments. To say I was worried the narrative was totally incoherent is an understatement. But going back, it's strong. Reminds me of when Stephen King said he didn't remember writing Cujo because he was deep into his cocaine and alcohol binges. Travel soccer just doesn't have the same ring.
In my idle moments, I've drafted a few concepts for novels outside of the Realms' Anchor universe. One is pretty fast paced, first person present tense. Pure rocket fuel that im hoping to ignite for November - the Nanowritemo. If you're not familiar, its a word-count challenge. 50k words in the month. You don't stop, you just hammer keys or scratch up some parchment until you get all the words down. Hopefully, its a foundation for a project that nets you a book or novella. Speaking from experience, it's pretty awesome to finish a book from a personal goal POV. The rest of the world doesn't care, but you do.
